I didn't do anything to the image of the woman in the final image.  I did decide to add a fantasy forest type background.  I added a diffuse glow to the background to give it a bit of a cool color glow, then i added a Gaussian blur to give it that hazy look.

Below is the first attempt at an avatar and sketch. The initial photo seems to have had some digital altering done to it already.  I think that made it a little bit more difficult on me as far as getting the highlights and shadows to work correctly with the avatar.  It took quite a bit of dodging and burning to get the photo where it is.

Bob Dylan poster

The book design I decided to do was for Bob Dylan.  I wanted to have a 60’s feel based on stories told from the artist’s life in the 60’s with a play on words with the title. The back ground was originally a strong colored tie dye.  I added a curves effect alter the way it looked as well as some of the colors.  Then I added a Hue/Saturation layer to tone down the overbearing florescent colors. On the front cover the giant floating head is just a floating head of the artist with a clipping mask with just different color brush strokes.  I then used a dry brush filter to give the colors on the head a bit of a texture.  I used a hue saturation layer on the New York Times best seller logo to change the colors to something that flowed a bit better with the rest of the book. The back cover silhouette of the guitar man was originally a black and white photo of Bob Dylan.  I used a solid color black overlay to give it the silhouette look then added an outer glow effect, and made it a tiny big transparent.  All of the text have an outer glow added. The artist name, title, authors name on the front, spine and back cover all have a text warp added to it.

Module 4 book cover

My book cover is going to be over Bob Dylan.  The design i'm shooting for is going to be on a lighter, most likely white background.  All the imagry is going to be silhouettes. My hope is that the front and back covers will flow together using these types of images.  I will use common book features like barcodes, publishers labels, and and excerpt and quote from the book.  I want to explore the different background colors, and different color silhouettes to find out which works best.

Awareness Poster

The intent of my poster is to relay information about cyber awareness.  My general focus will be geared towards Phishing, which is defined as the activity of defrauding an online account holder of financial information by posing as a legitimate company.  My poster will consist of some type of fish, a creepy dude looking through the blinds, a computer, and possibly some type of binary looking code.  I will also provide a link to a site what will offer information on how to protect yourself from such attacks.

 

UPDATED

 I strayed just a bit from the original design, and went for a more fun cartoon feel.  I found that doing the eyes behind the blinds at the top of the page was far to advanced for my present photo shopping skills. 

I took the laptop image and removed the background from it. Then I actually too a screen shot from my computer background, and added that in.  I then took the image of the eyes looking behind the blinds, added it to the screen and made it a bit transparent. (this is probably my favorite part.)  The fishhook and line are part of a larger picture with a rod, but that didn't fit well into the picture. Getting the fish out of the background with the bubbles was a pretty difficult.  Also if you noticed the inside the fish I added a picture computer binary code (10101010) this was probably the most difficult task in the entire poster.  I arched the text inside of the dialogue box, and added some effects to it.  The header text at the top has added effects as well.  All of a simple background with just a gradient effect added to it.
